This year, Clif Family Farm became CCOF certified—an important goal for us on our journey toward sustainability. Our commitment to organic farming goes hand-in-hand with our goal to grow food in ways that nurture the land, protect wildlife, and benefit communities and people's health.
While certification represents the most significant step in our ongoing journey toward sustainability, we're continuing to practice environmental stewardship in all aspects of our business. At the winery, we expanded our carbon offset program. We now offset emissions generated by energy use in our office, our business travel and — new this year — our winemaking.
We're also offering winery customers a chance to make a difference: in 2009, we launched Green My Shipment™. This program is a simple, inexpensive way to help our customers reduce the environmental impact of shipping their Clif Family Winery & Farm purchase. All of our offsets support NativeEnergy's grassroots trucking efficiency project, and the development of farmer-owned wind turbines.
